Paper Free Finance legal
Cookie policy
Version 1.0 · Effective
1.In short
Paper Free Finance stores only what it needs to sign you in, keep you signed in and remember a few choices you make. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, no third-party cookies, and nothing is shared with other websites. The emails we send carry no tracking pixels.
2.What we store on your device
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
ledgerline.session_token | cookie | Keeps you signed in. Without it every page would ask you to sign in again. | 12 hours, renewed while you are active |
ledgerline.session_data | cookie | A signed, short-lived copy of your session so each page does not have to look it up again. | 5 minutes |
ledgerline.dont_remember | cookie | Ends your session when the browser closes, if you chose not to stay signed in. | Until the browser closes |
ledgerline.two_factor | cookie | Holds a two-factor sign-in open between your password and your code. | A few minutes, during sign-in |
ledgerline.trust_device | cookie | Remembers that this browser completed two-factor sign-in, so the code is not asked for again on it. | 30 days |
ledgerline.better-auth-passkey | cookie | Holds the one-time challenge while you register or use a passkey. | A few minutes, while a passkey is used |
ledgerline.orgId | local storage | Which of your organisations you are working in. | Until you sign out or clear it |
theme, ledgerline.density | local storage | Light or dark appearance and table density, if you chose them. | Until you change them |
Session cookies are marked HttpOnly (scripts cannot read them), Secure (sent only over HTTPS) and SameSite=Lax. Over HTTPS each cookie name above starts with __Secure-, a prefix browsers accept only on secure connections.
3.Why there is no cookie banner
The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR) require consent before storing information on your device, with exceptions. Since 5 February 2026 the rule is in regulation 6(1) and the exceptions are in Schedule A1, as substituted by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (before that date the strictly necessary exception was regulation 6(4)(b)).
- Every cookie above, and the record of which organisation you are working in, is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for (Schedule A1, paragraph 4): without them you could not sign in or stay signed in.
- The appearance and density settings only remember how you chose to display Paper Free Finance, which falls within the exception for website appearance (Schedule A1, paragraph 6).
Because nothing needs consent, there is no banner. If we ever add something that does, we will ask first and update this page.
4.Controlling cookies
You can delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. If you block Paper Free Finance's cookies you will not be able to sign in. Signing out ends your session.
